Woven Throw Blankets as Functional Art

About Slowdown Studio

Originally founded in Los Angeles and now based in Sydney, Slowdown Studio is led by creative duo Jacob and Sarah-Jane Leung. The studio is dedicated to design lovers who believe that everyday life deserves more art, intention and moments of slowing down.

Each piece begins as a creative collaboration with artists from around the world, translating original artworks into functional objects for the home.

The result is a collection of woven throw blankets that bring personality, color and joy into daily living -without compromising on quality or responsibility.

Slowdown Studio places strong emphasis on how things are made, using 25% recycled yarn, plastic-free shipping, and 80% solar-powered production in their woven blanket range.

Woven Throw Blankets Between Art and Design

Slowdown Studio’s woven throw blankets blur the boundary between textile art and functional design. Each blanket is jacquard woven in the USA using American-grown cotton yarn, including recycled fibres, and finished with a soft fringed edge.

Their philosophy is simple: surround yourself with art that is as practical as it is beautiful, and allow space to slow down.

Rather than acting solely as blankets, these pieces function as living canvases. Graphic compositions, bold colour palettes and expressive artwork turn each throw into a decorative statement, suitable for use on a bed, sofa or wall. Whether layered casually or displayed intentionally, these woven throws bring a strong visual presence to the interior.

Design-Forward Blankets Made to Live With

Designed for everyday use, Slowdown Studio’s woven throw blankets combine comfort, durability and artistic expression. They offer warmth during cooler months while remaining breathable and soft to the touch.

From beds and sofas to wall displays, each blanket adapts effortlessly to different contexts. Their reversible structure and tactile texture make them ideal for modern interiors that value both utility and aesthetics.

Artist Collaboration

Collaborations with international artists ensure that every blanket tells a unique story, translating original artworks into high-quality woven textiles that support both creative expression and sustainable making.
