Emma Terweduwe
Textile Art & Functional Design
About Emma Terweduwe
Emma Terweduwe is a Belgian textile artist and designer whose work explores the relationship between material, touch, and emotional connection. A graduate of the Textile Design department at KASK Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, she has worked with renowned names such as Henrik Vibskov, Bless, and the Tilburg Textile Museum before founding her own studio in 2020.

Her practice blends contemporary textile art with functional design, creating woven pieces that feel both expressive and deeply tactile.
Textile Art Between Craft and Contemporary Design
Emma Terweduwe’s work is rooted in a slow, hands-on approach to making. Using natural and durable materials, she develops her own colour palettes and graphic patterns, often transforming woven fabrics through a distinctive felting technique. This process gives her textiles their characteristic depth, softness, and sculptural presence.

These contemporary textile artworks blur the boundary between decorative objects and functional pieces — inviting both visual engagement and physical interaction. In an increasingly digital world, her work reintroduces the importance of touch, materiality, and sensory experience in the interior.
Slow Design for Living Spaces
From woven plaids and cushions to wall-based textile works, Emma Terweduwe’s creations bring warmth, rhythm, and atmosphere into a space. Designed to live with people rather than simply decorate, each piece reflects a philosophy of mindful production and meaningful design.

Her practice combines traditional craftsmanship with digital tools, always preserving the individuality and imperfection of handmade objects. The result is a collection of textile designs that feel intimate, grounded, and quietly powerful.
