Who’s Behind SALAK?
The creative force behind SALAK Studio is Alicja Korbut, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and an experienced interior designer. After working in design studios across Poland and abroad, Alicja returned to Poland in 2020 to establish her own workshop, where she continues to create unique, handcrafted furniture. Every product from SALAK is handmade in their own workshop, with Alicja personally overseeing both design and production to ensure each piece reflects her vision and dedication to quality.
The Meaning Behind SALAK
The name "SALAK" holds dual significance. In certain countries, "salak" refers to a shade of white, resembling the color of salak palm fruits. This shade served as inspiration for the brand's premiere BASIC collection, which revolved around this neutral palette. Additionally, "SALAK" is an informal abbreviation of Alicja Korbut's name, lending the brand a personal and sentimental meaning.
