About Malwina Konopacka
Malwina Konopacka is a Polish artist and designer whose work moves freely between art, design and craft. Her practice began in illustration, where her passion for drawing led her to explore how a two-dimensional visual language could translate into three-dimensional objects.
This exploration gave birth to the OKO vase, first presented at Tokyo Design Days in 2014. What began as a single ceramic form developed into a broader family of vases, platters, bowls, mugs and home accessories.
Today, Malwina’s work is represented in museum collections and continues to move between different media. Her distinctive visual language is built around form, rhythm and colour, with a particular ability to bring an artistic quality to everyday objects.
Her work has always felt very natural to RUIMTE: objects that don’t ask you to choose between art and function, but exist somewhere beautifully in between.
VOYAGE: Malwina Konopacka rugs and kilims
The VOYAGE collection of rugs and kilims, designed by Malwina Konopacka for Carpets & More, brings the visual language of her ceramic work onto the floor and, in some designs, onto the wall.
The collection consists of 11 lines of rugs and kilims, woven from 100% New Zealand wool. The patterns draw directly from Malwina’s iconic OKO ceramic family, translating the characteristic forms and motifs of her vessels onto a flat woven surface.
The result is a collection of contemporary designer rugs that feel expressive without becoming overwhelming — pieces that can quietly shape a room or become its bold focal point.
A journey through form, colour and place
The name VOYAGE reflects the idea of a journey, both through Malwina’s artistic language and through places that have personal meaning within the OKO family.
ROMA, MARSEILLE, PARIS, RIO and FLORENCE take their patterns directly from the ceramic collection, while BERLIN and WARSAW are inspired by spaces shaped through personal interpretation.
LONDON recalls Malwina’s memorable walks, while TOKYO and OSLO explore different faces of urban life. GDYNIA nods to modernism.
The collection is held together by a restrained colour palette, while the expressive patterns leave room for interpretation.
Rugs that can become art
What makes these pieces particularly interesting to me is their versatility.
They can function as rugs, bringing warmth, texture and pattern into an interior, but some designs can also be hung on the wall. This changes the way you can look at them: not simply as something that finishes a room, but as something that can become part of its visual identity.
It is another example of what I love about Malwina’s work — the space between the functional and the artistic is never fixed.

For a long time, I’ve been searching for rugs to add to the RUIMTE collection. But I didn’t want to add just any rug. I was looking for pieces that express something, that bring character and a point of view into an interior, while at the same time offering the quality of beautiful materials and craftsmanship.
When I discovered the VOYAGE collection, it immediately felt right.
I’m a huge fan of Malwina’s work and her ceramics have already been part of RUIMTE. Bringing her rugs into the collection felt like a very natural next step: the same artistic language, translated into wool, with a new scale, texture and way of experiencing her work.
