Collectible design and art takes over hotel rooms

About The Rooms
The Rooms is one of Brussels' most distinctive art and design events - a fair that refuses to look like one. Now in its second edition, The Rooms was conceived by art dealer Patrick Mestdagh and gallerist Sébastien Janssen, inspired by the energy of alternative art fairs in New York, Paris, London, and Bangkok.
The concept is simple and striking: 40 international galleries, each given a hotel room at Mix Brussels to transform into a world entirely their own. No white cubes, no convention centre booths, just 40 immersive rooms shaped by the individual sensibility of each participant.
RUIMTE Is Participating in The Rooms 2026
This June, RUIMTE will have its own room at The Rooms Brussels.
For those who know RUIMTE, this feels like a natural fit. As a studio dedicated to the curation of collectible design and functional art, RUIMTE has always been about creating spaces that feel like an extension of the person living in them - layered, personal, and intentional. A hotel room reinvented as an immersive gallery space is exactly the kind of environment where my philosophy comes to life.
The Rooms brings together galleries working across contemporary art, antiques, jewellery, and collectible design. RUIMTE joins a lineup of 40 participants from Brussels, Paris, Copenhagen, and beyond - including names like Spazio Nobile, Sorry We're Closed, Lancz Gallery, and Elie Top.

Why Collectible Design Belongs at a Fair Like This
At RUIMTE, I believe that collectible design can bring the feeling of art into our everyday spaces - accessibly and without pretension. That means working with under-the-radar designers and makers whose work sits at the intersection of craft, function, and artistic expression.
The Rooms offers something rare in the Brussels art and design calendar: a setting that is intimate rather than institutional, experiential rather than transactional. Visitors don't browse but they step inside a world. That's the kind of encounter that changes how people think about the objects they choose to live with.
What RUIMTE's Room Is About
Through this room, I want to highlight the role of women in art and design — and explore the subtle boundary between design and art. How a functional object can be appreciated as an artistic expression. How the things we use every day can carry the same emotional weight as a work on a gallery wall.
