About Malwina Konopacka
Malwina Konopacka is an artist and designer whose work exists at the intersection of art, design and craft.
Originally working as an illustrator, she became interested in translating drawing into the three-dimensional world of everyday objects. That exploration led to the creation of the OKO vase, which debuted at Tokyo Design Days in 2014 and became the starting point for a wider ceramic family.

Vases, platters, bowls, mugs and other home objects followed, all recognisable through Malwina’s distinctive approach to form, rhythm and colour.
Her work has since found its way into museum collections and into homes around the world. What I particularly appreciate is how naturally her objects move between art and function. They are objects you use, but they also have a presence of their own.
That is exactly why her work has always felt at home at RUIMTE.
From ceramics to rugs
The new VOYAGE collection of rugs and kilims, designed by Malwina Konopacka for Carpets&More, continues this exploration in a completely different medium.
The collection translates the forms and patterns of the OKO ceramic family into woven textiles. Instead of the curved, three-dimensional surface of a vase, the familiar language of Malwina’s work now unfolds across a much larger, flat surface.

It is fascinating to see how the same visual vocabulary changes when it moves from ceramic to textile. The shapes become patterns, the rhythm becomes something you experience across a room, and the material itself adds another layer of texture and warmth.
A voyage through places and forms
The collection’s geographical names reflect places that have a particular significance within Malwina’s work and the OKO family.
ROMA, PARIS and RIO directly translate patterns from the ceramic collection. Together, they form a visual journey through places, memories and architectural influences.
The colour palette remains restrained, allowing the expressive forms and patterns to take centre stage. This balance is what makes the collection particularly interesting to me: the rugs have presence, but they don’t necessarily dictate the entire room. Voyage collection was already recognised with the Red Dot Design Award for its quality and design.
More than a rug
I also love that some of the pieces can move beyond the floor.
Hung on the wall, they become something closer to a textile artwork. On the floor, they introduce pattern, softness and warmth. In both cases, the object remains recognisably Malwina — expressive, graphic and functional at the same time.

This versatility is very much in line with the way I see objects at RUIMTE.
I’m interested in pieces that don’t fit neatly into one category. Is it furniture? Is it art? Is it an object? Sometimes the most interesting pieces are the ones that make that distinction feel less important.
Why rugs, and why Malwina?
Adding rugs to RUIMTE had been on my mind for quite some time.
But I was very selective about what I wanted them to be. I wasn’t looking for something simply because it was beautiful or because every interior needs a rug. I wanted to find pieces that express something — rugs with character, a strong visual identity and enough presence to change the feeling of a space.

At the same time, the material mattered. I wanted to be able to offer rugs made with quality materials and craftsmanship, not simply another decorative layer for an interior.
So when I discovered VOYAGE, it made immediate sense.
Rugs by Malwina Konopacka at RUIMTE
For a long time, I’ve been searching for rugs to add to the RUIMTE collection. I wanted them to be different, to express something and to bring a real point of view into an interior — while at the same time offering the quality of beautiful materials and craftsmanship.
Being a huge fan of Malwina’s work, and already having her ceramics in the RUIMTE collection, made this collaboration feel like a very natural match.
The rugs bring her recognisable language of form, rhythm and colour into a new dimension. They add softness and scale, but they also continue something that is already at the heart of RUIMTE: objects that sit somewhere between art and design, and that can change the way we experience a space.
VOYAGE by Malwina Konopacka is now part of the RUIMTE collection.
